I think it's important to remember that you need to keep your endowment for the future. The Indianapolis Museum (aka http://imamuseum.org) does this incredible transparency thing on their site, and they let you see the size of their endowment. They take my comments to heart and know that I'm just as committed as they are, knowing that it's my job to offer advice even if it's not what they wanted to hear.
