Pet peeve du jour
Friday, February 29th, 2008Once cell phones became popular, there weren’t enough phone numbers for everyone. So, the various phone entities decided to release numbers that previously had been area codes. Therefore, the area code for Delaware, 302, could now be used for prefixes. If you wanted to call a long distance number, you would just dial 1 before dialing the remaining ten digits, and that would be it.
I wish people would learn this. I have one of those prefixes that used to be an area code. Regularly, I get people calling to ask, “Did you just call me?” They got a call from the area code, and hit redial. However, when it redials, because they didn’t hit ‘1′ they got just the first seven digits.
People, PLEASE! If someone didn’t leave a message, don’t hit redial to see why they called. If you must know, then take the time to look at the number calling you and dial all ten digits back.
